If you’ve always wanted to dine at an American roadside diner, there is now one in Sydney!
If you’ve ever watched a few US movies and wished to dine at one of their roadside diners, you no longer have to travel all the way there. Valentinas Sydney, has recently opened in Marrickville and is inspired by long road trips in the USA. We’ve done the research for you, so you know exactly what to expect when you arrive.
Now lets start with the most important element, the style and decor – yes when you walk into this diner you will feel like you walked straight into a US movie set. All the little details come together and make the experience exceptional. If you’ve ever been to the US, you would know how wonderful the service is there – and Valentinas brings that same friendly service to our doorstep.
Once you are seated, you’ll find yourself with a diner style menu with a few US favourites. You’ll also find vegan and gluten-free options available to suit dietary requirements. There are menus for breakfast and lunch and there are even some delicious looking fried chicken items! Of course, it wouldn’t be American without some delicious doughnuts to have for dessert… or lunch. The breakfast menu is all day and you can order lunch from 11am.
And lastly, we have read that the coffee is great here and it is served in diner style mugs – and that is important to us Aussies, as we have the best coffee in the world.
We hope you enjoyed this blog, let us know your review if you end up going to Valentinas!

You can’t beat the views at the Hydro Majestic as you look over the Megalong Valley. This place has so much history and is a beautiful location to spend Mother’s Day enjoying your high tea with mum.

Their Wintergarden offers a premium afternoon high tea with a flute of French Champagne. Hopefully by the time you read this, they will have uploaded some more information on their website for Mother’s Day.

The choices on this menu are endless. Your breakfast, brunch, lunch and pizza cravings are sorted. We started with the Smoked Salmon with spinach and avocado on sourdough. A delicious dish with fresh ingredients, the sourdough with a good spread of cream cheese. Next we devoured the Vegetarian Stack consisting of our favourite βhaloumiβ, spinach, mushrooms, avocado, hash brown, grilled tomato on sourdough with two perfectly cooked poached eggs. Add a dash of basil pesto and you have a dish to satisfy plenty of tastes. To finish – a sweet dish to balance out the morning β Acai Bowl with crunchy granola, almonds, banana, kiwi and strawberries. Delishous! The Chai Latte and Soy Cap lived up to our standards.

You’ve probably seen these Japanese fluffy pancakes all over Instagram and you’ve probably been on the hunt to find them? Well, they are from Japan and more and more places are popping up all over Sydney that serve them. Gram – a Japanese cafe just moved into Chatswood in Sydney’s North Shore! This is especially exciting because their executive chef has flown here to teach the Australian chefs how to make these highly demanded pancakes just like they do in Japan!
Photography – Gram
So how are they made? It doesn’t look easy but according to Gram the Japanese ultra-fluffy pancakes are made with egg-whites made into a heavy batter thatβs then whipped and then steamed until they get to the final stage of cooking them. The end product is a stack of 3 wobbly-sponge like pancakes (perfect for your Instagram boomerang story haha). According to their menu they also come in a tiramisu flavour, which sounds delicious!
Are you going to be bringing along friends and family that don’t want these pancakes? (surely not but just in case lol) they have french toast, soup, savory pancakes and a BLT. They also have a large drink menu with a range of smoothies, tea and coffees.
We’re so excited to try this place out and we’re sure it will be great! Gram has over 60 cafes throughout the world (the success must have something to do with those unique fluffy pancakes haha)

Let us know in the comments if you have been to one of their stores before! Which flavour of the pancakes would you recommend?

I’m not sure about you but I want to tag my pooch everywhere I go! The hard part is finding a cafe that is dog friendly. Further, it’s even harder to find a cafe that has a little pooch menu for your fury friend to snack on! We’ve done some research and visited some cafes to give you the down low on where you can take your pooch next time! Our dog gives these places his lick of approval π
Naked Brew
First on our dog friendly list is the Naked Brew Not only does this place have some delicious good looking food. They even have dog biscuits and doughnuts that look good enough to eat yourself! It’s a great place for any dog owner with their friendly service and love for dogs!
Where can you find them? 110 Swanson St, Erskineville When are they open? Mon-Sun 7am-3pm
Cuckoo Callay
Next on our list is Cuckoo Callay, great coffee for you and pats and threats for your fur friend. They also have vegan and vegetarian options for our non-fur friends haha! They also have a large outdoor space for you to enjoy some quality time with your pooch!
Where can you find them? 324A King St, Newtown When are they open? Mon-Fri 6am-4pm or Sat-Sun 8am-4pm
I’m sure you all know of Cafe Bones! It’s an outdoor cafe in a dog park, so your pet is able to roam free and socialise. They have snacks and coffee for humans as well as your pets! It’s also a great experience if you love being around dogs in general. It’s probably the most dog friendly place we have been to.
Where can you find them? 1 Canal Rd, Leichhardt When are they open? Mon-Sun 7am-6pm
We hope this helped your search for dog friendly cafes!
The stress of finding the best places to eat in Sydney are hard enough when you live here, but when you are visiting for 24 hours, it’s a bit more of a traumatic process. We will save you the hassle and let you know from our experience which Sydney food we would eat if we only had 24 hours in Sydney’s CBD.
1. Breakfast/Morning Tea Food
You can’t start the day off without a meal and we wouldn’t go past TheTea Cosy, located in The Rocks. It’s basically the best tea and scones we’ve found in town. There are over 30 teas to pick from, ranging from your basics to some interesting I’ve never seen before but they all sound delicious! The scones are served fresh every day. There are also a variety to pick from, including sweet and savoury options (we love the cheddar scone with butter). They also have a large selection of jams including: Strawberry, Triple Berry, Pear & Vanilla, Fig & Ginger and they sometimes have special ones too!
Where can you find them? 7 Atherden St, The Rocks NSW 2000 When are they open? Mon β Fri, 10 am β 4 pm or Sat β Sun, 9.30 am β 5 pm
2. Lunch Food
I’m not sure about you, but I love noodles, hence why I have chosen Biang Biang as my next meal of your 24 hours in Sydney’s CBD. This place is hidden in a little alley in Chinatown, but is the perfect spot to relax away from the crowds. You can go for their classic Biang Biang Noodles with Chilli Oil if you can handle the spice or the Biang Biang Noodles with Beef if you like it medium. Otherwise there are more plain versions with stewed pork or minced meat and tomato. The meals are delicious and filling, especially if you love spicy food!
Where can you find them? Shop 39/1 Dixon St, Haymarket NSW 2000 When are they open? 12-10pm Mon-Sun
3. Dinner Food
Now to finish off the day with some dinner, there are so many trendy places to pick in the CBD. But I like one hidden underground at the Regents Place – Assembly Bar. It’s basically a bar and restaurant in one and the food is delicious! Name any pizza or pasta and they have it – my personal favourite is the Lamb Ragu. They also have vegan options and vegan cheese that can be added to any meal which is great! Oh and don’t forget the cocktail menu, its a hard choice which one to pick. They do have a chart to let you know which ones are sour or sweet which I love!!
