Kerbside Creamery – Custom Cakes

Have you seen all the delicious cheesecake images on Instagram and want to know where people are getting them? We have all the information you need.

We have always eyed off Kerbside Creamery’s cheesecake on a stick but we have now realised they also added a new item to their menu – custom cheesecakes! You can of course also get one of their regular single favour cheese cakes BUT for the same price you can get ‘one of everyone’ that includes 10 different flavoured slices.

What flavours are there?

  1. Cookies’n’Cream
  2. Peanut Pretzel
  3. Nutella Oreo
  4. Reeses Peanut Butter
  5. Biscoff
  6. S’mores
  7. Tella Berry
  8. Raffaelo
  9. Golden Gaytime

They are all on a vanilla cheesecake base and they also have the option to create your own combination in case you want more of your favourite flavours. Although we must admit if you do that it doesn’t seem to be as aesthetically pleasing haha!

Our favourites are the Biscoff and Reeses Peanut Butter cheesecakes!

How do your order?

You can order directly through their website in three easy steps. Simply select your cheesecake and flavours, select a delivery date (they are able to do the next day in Sydney Metro or same day if you order before 10am) and the third step is to enjoy your delivery.

What about cheesecake on a stick?

If you did not know, originally they were a food truck that served cheesecakes (1 slice) on a stick in Sydney’s south-west region. The truck also served strawberries on a stick with similar stoppings to the cheesecakes so it was a difficult decision on what to order.

Enjoy your cheesecake and let us know which was your favourite flavour. By the looks of their Instagram it looks like a new flavour will be coming out shortly as well.

Why does Starbucks always get your name wrong?

We’ve got the answer as to why your name is always wrong on your Starbucks order.

We’ve all been to Starbucks at least a few times throughout our lives and the number one thing we seem to hear about, is your name on the cup. It always seems to be either spelt wrong or a completely different name altogether. Is the person taking our order not hearing us correctly or is this happening on purpose?

I personally have been a victim of Starbucks – my name is Lauren and I have had my name put down as Gloria. Being young, I don’t think I look like a Gloria and my name does not sound anything like it.

We’ve done a bit of thinking and done some research online and there is actually a conspiracy theory behind it all! What does any business want? Free marketing/exposure right? Most people, when they have a funny or wrong name written on their order will post it on social media for all their following to see. Boom – you’ve just given them free advertising! Now that is an interesting conspiracy theory and really does get you thinking… can they really be getting it wrong so often?

We would love to hear if you have been personally victimised by Starbucks and either had your name spelt completely wrong or got a whole new name altogether? And secondly, what are your thoughts on this conspiracy theory?

Also, talking about coffee, how adorable are these reusable coffee cups? We’re adding one to our wish-list to not only save the planet but also to have a cute coffee cup always on hand.

Can greenhouses solve social distancing?

We’re sure many of you have been out since the restrictions in Australia have been lifted. Now restaurants and cafes are allowed to open as long as the follow the 1.4 social distancing rule. However, we’ve found that when we have been out dining, there may be the right amount in the space to keep the 1.4 distance but they put everyone cramped into one section. Should we be concerned if we can touch the people on the table behind us? What if we told you there are greenhouse restaurants trying to solve the problem?

Where can you find them?

We have recently come across a restaurant in Amsterdam, Mediamatic, that has used greenhouses to make sure everyone is spread out. Many restaurants have tried to be creative with ways to stand out with concepts to control social distancing. However, this would have to be our favourite!. Should there be more greenhouse restaurants?

According to the Government, these sort of measures are unnecessary, but it is a great concept for those who are more at risk of the illness or those that feel uncomfortable going to a normal dining experience. And lets not forget the Instagramers who would love this idea simply for the Instagram photo (us).

This made us think, the amount of trust we are putting in restaurants and cafes to do the right thing and keep us safe. Have they wiped down everything? did they wash their hands? Are the staff being honest about their health? On the other hand are all the guests being honest about their health? The questions are endless!

Nevertheless, good luck and be safe, wherever you decide to eat! Hopefully we can find more greenhouse restaurants popping up!

Food Influencers posting food authority nightmares

Our food blog/Instagram lives closely by our food bible – The NSW Food Authority and their list of named and shamed restaurants. The places on this list are almost ingrained in our heads to make sure we never promote them haha! But what surprises us is the amount of Instagram Food Bloggers that promote them and encourage people to go there. The Food Authority post an updated list every Tuesday.

Many restaurants look inviting from the front door but if you saw a dirty kitchen would you keep walking in? Below we are going to list reasons restaurants make their way on this list. You will be probably be quite surprised and there are some big name restaurants on there too.

1.Cleanliness

This is a major one that comes up quite a bit. It can range from simply not maintaining the premises to the required standards all the way to not taking measures to prevent pests in the restaurant. There is also a separate warning for maintaining equipment and fixtures to a certain level of cleanliness. I’m not sure how true this is, but I’ve been told by people in the industry, that you have to be really dirty to be given this warning. So don’t think it is just a speck of dust on the counter haha!

2.Temperature Control/Contamination

There are actually restaurants that fail to store their food in temperatures that stop bacterial growth. Or they store it in areas that it can be contaminated by other foods. (eg cooked and raw foods together, chicken and fruit together). This also includes display cabinets not being the correct temperature and needing to have a temperature measuring device on site. Some places don’t even have this, that is what shocked us the most.

3.Hand Washing Facilities

This one is probably the most shocking to us. Failing to have hand washing facilities or easily accessible hand washing on the premises. Gross right? This warning/fine can also include not having hand soup near the hand washing facility as well. This is just getting worse! But it doesn’t stop there, there are even restaurants that don’t have warm running water at the sink.

4.Illegal Ingredients

This one is worrying if you have health problems that are caused by foods/preservatives. There are restaurants that have received warnings about having illegal ingredients in their food. (Eg. Sulphur Dioxide can set off asthema sufferers and was found in one restaurants food). Quite scary when you think about it.

5.No Licence to Operate

There are even places around that are operating and don’t have the required licence to have a food business. How does that even happen? If you are serving food you basically need a licence to inform the food authority you are operating. The only people except from this are NFP fund raising events.

We hope next time you’re walking past a restaurant or being influenced but a food blogger that you check to make sure you’re not getting food poisoning tonight. You can find the NSW Food Authority here: http://www.foodauthority.nsw.gov.au/offences
